Blogging Regularly Will Improve Your
Organic Search Engine Rankings
Think Blogging is a Dead-End for Your Small Business?
As the age of social media continues to evolve, many businesses are no doubt contemplating if blogging is still an important piece of the puzzle in their marketing and advertising efforts. Well the answer is that if you want your website to rank on page one of the search engines, you will probably need to do both if you have very competitive keywords.
After All, If You Don’t Create Fresh Content Through Your Blog,
How Will You Participate In Social Media?
What are you going to send out to the social media sites, best wishes?
Lets Look At Your Company’s Blogging Strategy
For newer small businesses or those that are a step or two behind the eight ball with their marketing efforts, blogging gives them a chance to reach out to current and potential customers, while also giving their sites the opportunity to increase their page ranks via Google, Bing and other search engines.
Unfortunately, many companies fail the golden rule of blogging
– keeping the site updated with fresh content.
Fresh content is not only a key factor in keeping the search engines interested in your copy, but also in maintaining and adding viewership. Whether you have a team or one individual dedicated to your company’s blogging efforts, be sure a solid plan is in place so that the blog is not neglected.
What to blog about? Start with answering in depth the frequently asked questions you get on the phone. In fact make the blog posts that are the answers to those questions in a conversational, easy to read style and you will hear those questions during phone calls much less often. Just blogging really good answers to those FAQs will keep you busy for months. And with every post your site gets one page bigger because Google counts every blog post as a page.

Added Benefits to the Company Blog
By offering interesting and regular content, your blog can provide your company with countless advertising opportunities to promote your brand; what company owner wouldn’t like that?
Blogs give companies the ability to both have conversations with countless individuals and also time for some one-on-one interaction.
Back in the day, companies typically dealt with customers and their compliments, concerns and questions either in person, over the phone or via regular mail. With the modern technology world, the ability to have what seems like instantaneous contact between company and customer is very real. If your company blog is getting feedback from viewers, are you taking the time to respond to them? If not, you should.
Whether your company’s blog receives criticism, compliments or questions, it is important to take the time and respond to each and every comment. It may seem tedious to some, but customers will have more respect for your business if they know they have your ear.
As more and more companies turn to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages to communicate with customers, blogging should not be forgotten, even when the company heads view blogging with skepticism. Actually the two go hand in hand, this is not an either/or situation. Google’s ranking factors revolve around the principals of Meritocracy. Its getting harder to get to page one. A simple search for “Black Handbags” yeilds 95,000,000 search results. So which will get to page one? All other ranking factors being the same, the search engine will pick the websites that are practicing the principals of meritocracy. Being helpful goes a long way towards getting you to page one.
Blogging and Sharing Your Posts
Through Social Media Marketing
This is a great one/two punch for working your way up in the SERPs (search engine results pages). And don’t let anyone tell you that no-follow links are worthless. There are many studies that show that sites that have no-follow links do 7% better in the rankings than the same content that doesn’t have them. Add this to the Google-love you get from linking out to helpful sites and you have a great advantage over your competition for the same keywords.
There are different points of view on whether blog commenting can bring some real value to a blog or website. Some say posting comments on blogs is an excellent way of attracting visitors’ attention. There are others who believe blog commenting as an Internet Marketing strategy is a complete waste of time.
My belief is that blog commenting is very powerful but it can’t be automated. This puts off a lot of website owners because if you read a blog post and take the time to comment, it does eat up a lot of time. I think that participating in Social Media Marketing is going to become very difficult to automate in the future. It calls for authentic interaction. How can you automate a comment? I think this adds to the power of blog commenting and Google will give the practice more and more authority.
Here is the best method I have found to efficiently
comment on blogs in quantity while staying “white hat”.
Take a few posts or pages that you have written about your niche, say Boston Real Estate. Break each post or page up into 3 or 4 blog comments each that can stand alone. With very little rewriting, this will yield 12 blog comments regarding Boston Real Estate with a link to your site on every one of them. The next step is to do a search for the keywords that would bring up Boston Real Estate blogs. Check out WordPress Codex for more information. You can even use the Google Blog Directory. Just enter “your keyword blogs”
Next, start reading their blogs. Whenever you come to a blog post that fits one of your 12 comments, copy and paste your comment and send it along. Now you have given a white hat comment with original copy written by you and right on topic. If you read a blog and there is nothing being discussed that fits your 12 points of view, go on to the next one. Use each comment only once, keep track of who you sent it to.
Benefits of Blog Commenting
First and foremost you will get a trackback to your site automatically from WordPress sites. This is good for SEO and will help with your backlink profile. It helps you build links especially with do-follow blogs but even if they are no-follow this is worth doing. If you insist on a trackback (do-follow) link, enter “Boston Real Estate Blogs Trackback” into Google and the SERP will give you a list of do-follow sites. At the risk of repeating myself, pages with no-follow links perform 7% better in the SERPs than sites without no-follow links according to the latest measurements.
Even More Benefits of Blog Commenting
It adds value to a blog post
It helps you connect with other bloggers in your niche
It helps you establish your expertise in your niche
It leads to discussions and makes you a member of the blogging community
It drives indirect visitors to your blog or website.
Most importantly, blog commenting is a lot of fun. By being an active commenter, you not only motivate yourself as a blogger, but you motivate others to click the link posted in your comments and have a look at your blog.
Blog Commenting is a Waste of Time
for Those Who Indulge In Blog Comment Spam
If Somebody said that blog commenting will bring immediate traffic and backlinks to your blog, and you outsourced your blog commenting, started spamming or began using an automated software to get the task done in order to grow your blog or website. You are making a serious mistake!
You will damage the reputation of your blog, if you send out comment spam. If you can’t give a comment that is real, then go on to the next link building fad.
Commenting on Blogs Does Bring Benefits!
Serious commenting is all about actively participating in a conversation. If fact, it’s about adding value to a discussion by sharing your own thoughts and view points. It’s about building relationships. How many times did you leave comments that really added some value to a blog post?
Blog commenting is a kind of give-and-take relationship. If you don’t do anything to add value by participating in a conversation, what can you expect from other participants? Are you going to get any attention?
Blog commenting is certainly an effective marketing strategy for those who understand the true essence of it. If you have the ability to help people discover the truth by having a conversation, you can immediately get noticed
If you use the method I outlined above, what you are doing is authentic because its what you think and its what you wrote about the subject. Blog commenting efficiently while keeping it white hat justifies taking a few hours a week for this method of link building. I set aside a Friday morning every 2 or 3 months.
